It's not true about Kota Bharu's ban on high heels and makeup ..... Jed Yoong says this in her blog
Quote :
Wong Chun Wai can’t stop obsessing about how women in Kota Bharu dress. This time, he has gone too far by LYING that the Kota Bharu City Council (MPKB) has “issued an order to ban female workers of the MBKB and permit holders from putting on lipsticks or wearing high-heels”.
THIS IS FALSE. No by-law has been passed or enforced. An advisory on “preferred” modes of Islamic dressing was distributed.
Sinar Harian has corrected this blatant lie and irresponsible, unscrupulous and defamatory report by The Star and Bernama.
Unquote
Now why would the Star lie about this issue? Is it a coincidence that Kuantan falls under PAS's ruling (an opposition party in the eyes of BN) and is its purpose to instill fear in the hearts of the non-Muslims ?? ( There... there vote opposition la !)

clickety clack of heels ~ too sexy!
Boy, am i glad i am no longer working in KB! I was there for 2 years back in the 80's and it was nice back then. We had ample entertainment outlets and great places to hang out! I remember spending my weekends at clubs and discos. Those seemed like harmless and decent activities ~ heck i was hanging out with professionals like police inspectors, teachers, accountants, dentists and doctors.
That's all different now! And today i read in the papers that heavy make up and bright coloured lipsticks are not allowed !!! Even high heel shoes that tip taps their way around the office is a No-No! IF u really want to wear those , they have to be silent heels padded with rubber ! OMG!!!! I suppose the sound of heels tapping against the floor gives out lots of sexy vibes!!! And the bright lips..... hmm, maybe Gothic dark coloured lipstick is a good way to scare away rapists! So ladies if u don't want to be a rape victim, never leave the house looking good! Look as hideous as possible! Throw away the hair brush, never brush your teeth, oh maybe slap on some facial mask, grow more wrinkles , ...... and wear a sack!
KB council bans lipstick, high heels
KOTA BARU: Muslim women employees working here are forbidden to wear lipstick and high-heeled shoes to work. This directive is contained in a municipal council circular dated May 25 and signed by its president Shafie Ismail, which has been distributed to business premises here.A check, however, found that only a few tenants had received the circular this week. The circular stated that the directive, targeted at Muslim women employees working in food outlets and other business premises, was issued to prevent incidents like rape and illicit sex as well as to safeguard the morals and dignity of Muslim women in Kelantan. It stated that Muslim women were forbidden to wear thick make-up, bright coloured lipstick and high-heeled shoes which made a tapping sound. Those who insisted on wearing high-heeled shoes should choose those with rubber soles.Attempts to contact Shafie for clarification were futile. The directive on the wearing of lipstick and high-heeled shoes are in addition to the wearing of scarves, which should cover the chest and not be of transparent material, blouses with long sleeves, which were long and loose, as well as socks. Those who do not adhere to the regulation can be fined up to RM500. – Bernama

Walls have ears.....
We all know that walls have ears! We make sure we say the right stuff even behind doors , cuz we know that walls can hear but they somehow have mouths that can spread news too. But my post today isn't about walls that eaves drops! Its about those species from mars whose ears seem to have been surgically removed. Hmmm i suppose those same severed ears have been donated to walls! LOL!
yes, i am talking about MEN! We look at them and they seem to have those 2 protrusions on the sides of their head but i think they don't function well esp when the sounds come from some higher pitched species! LOL! Among themselves i think they have the same audio wavelengths but put those same ears next to the lips of some female and No comprehendo! LOL!
DAMAGED ORGANS!!!! Here is an example of a piece of so-called conversation ~ between my spouse and i!My phone rings at 10pm and there is this voice at the other end :
M: Do u want supper?
F: No thanks , i am not hungry.
M: How about Cantonese fried mee ?
F: NO thanks , i had a huge dinner.
M: Fried mee from Intan?
F: NO , its ok , thanks. ...unless u are hungry and want to eat.
M: I'll buy a packet of mee then.
F: just buy enough for one. I am NOT going to eat!
M: Ok i will buy for 2!
F: NO , NO! I am not going to eat, buy for just ONE!
M: OK , i will buy for 2 :) be back soon!
I rest my case!

the storm b4 the lull???? NO thanks!
I hate it when i hear that phrase ~ it has to get worse before it gets better! Have u heard that said to u before??? Its like saying no pain no gain. Any new skin product u buy , they will say something like " well it can make your skin condition worse first before it clears!" GREAT! i guess with hair products they will say that your crowning glory will all drop off before the new baby hair grows! yikes , no thanks! At the dentist , the new filling or the new crown may hurt for a week before it gets better! OMG! Or how about a slimming product will make u bloat up first before it actually brings your waist down 3 notches!!! Or maybe in the financial dept, u will have to get really poor and down to your last cent before u reap the benefits and become a millionaire! NO thanks i say!!!!
But honestly , with so many direct selling products in the market, almost 50% of them has this to say. Vitamins that will make u feel really lousy for the 1st 2 weeks before they really energise u! Detox products that make u constipated first b4 they expel all the toxins! Acne that will get worse and explosions on your face will erupt before u get a dewy clear skin! Puh-lease!
And why did u think this post came about??? No i did not buy any products! It was a class of Chi gong ( dono if this is how its spelled!) They say that u will feel all kinds of aches u never knew u had after the 1st or 2nd session. heck, why do i need to get those aches that i never had b4???? Just to let me know that those joints and organs of mine are damaged even tho i wasn't aware of them. No thank u. i feel fine now , let me stay that way. Maybe those aches may surface when i am 60, i say i can wait! No hurry here!!! take your time !
So in this case i don't need to let it get worse when its not even bad in the first place, just to make it all better in the end! i take a bow and bid thee farewell! Aches and pains please take your time coming out !
E-xcuse me while i take a bow

Poor Birdies ....
In view of the recent price hikes, from foodstuff to petrol, our moods have all taken a nosedive. Our sense of humour is nearing zero. Thinking of the sacrifices and adjustments we have to make is just damn depressing. Urrggg… geram! Don’t blame us for not updating our blog, where got mood la.
Some 3 weeks ago, I panicked. I couldn’t find lower grade rice anywhere! I was at Tesco. Big-big price tags were on display, “RM17.90”, “RM 19.80” but SOLD OUT! Celaka. The same thing was happening at Billion and other sundry shops. The cheapest available was RM 27 and above. I had to call my sis who happens to live a few steps away from Tesco, to make daily visits to Tesco and “grab anything below RM20.” … Like I said, I panicked. How to continue feeding the strays? Could I afford to? A 10kg bag could only last about 20 days. Finally and thankfully, I was able to find some priced at RM 18 at a sundry shop near E’s. I used to pay RM15 for Tesco’s in-house rice or at the most it would cost about RM16.90 from some other shops. Sigh… of course before I would let the strays die of hunger; I would rather skip a meal or two!! But I will need to control their intake though. The pigeons hanging around my shop are bound to suffer… My sis and I used to feed them uncooked rice. No more ‘here birdies, birdies but ‘poor birdies, birdies.’
After several weeks of moaning and groaning over the rising cost of foodstuff, our P.M. gave us another reason to criticize him kow-kow. Last week he announced an increase of 40% in the price of petrol. Die.. die! Petrol naik harga = domino effect = everything else pun naik harga! Slogans used against B.N. during the election campaigns are being resurrected, eg.“Vote BN, vote Barang Naik! Protesters in Ipoh put up this banner “When Pak Lah sleeping, we only need to pay RM 1.92; when he woke up, we need to pay RM 2.70!!” Our dear PM is committing political hara-kiri! See how long he can last.
Following that dreaded announcement, Pauline officially made her own announcement. She could no longer afford to come down to Klang on a weekly basis for our chiapkoot sessions. We will have to cut it down to once a month AND on top of that, we will have to reduce the stakes meaning sai-loh 50cts, yee-loh RM1.00 etc. Aiyoh.. our sessions are doomed! Thankfully, E’s kids will be home for the holidays. They will tide us through for the next couple of months in the event we need the sessions to de-stress. We definitely will, judging from how things are looking.
Hopefully within that time, Anwar or some other potential leaders will be able to do something; anything, to stabilize the economy. I don’t want to be a drama queen but I can’t help feeling that the situation is going to get worse before it gets better. Reminds me of Joseph’s prediction of Pharaoh’s dream “ 7 years of good harvest followed by 7 years of famine.” We can only pray that this time round, the recession will not be as bad as the previous one. Since we are all Christians here, might I suggest that we all pray for heavenly intervention?

drawing inner strength
phew...... it has been a very, very tiring and gruelling last weekend. As you gals know, my mum fell down on Friday morning from her bicycle while trying to cross the road. She fell right on her bum and thank god, her friends were there. Some of them are hawkers manning their stalls and saw what had happened and quickly rushed to her aid. I was told by one of her friends that her face was so pale when they rushed to her. This happen on Friday morning, approx 7 am. Luckily she memorised my mobile number and called me from one of her friend's mobile. I was about to go out to work and dropping my son off to her place. When I arrived the market place to pick her, she was accompanied by her friend who helped her into my car. I couldnt not stop to park my car as the road is busy with morning market along the road. When I saw her walking to my car with the aid of her freind, she looked so pale. For a moment, my heart stopped. I tried to be brave for her as well and joked with her friend, saying, she must be lost her balance while chasing a handsome young man. !! My mum is the type that can endure any pain but there are only two occasions when the pain is tooooo much for her. 1st was when she dislocated her shoulder on 7th day of the last chinese New Year (2007). Infact, she is still recovering from that when the latest incident happened. She insist on going to the chinese physician in Pandamaran. (like urut urut lah - not our normal "chiap koot"- though it sounds like). Took her there but only urut her back and gave her some medication. I had to go back to office to finish some urgent work and have decided to take 1/2 day leave. Later the same morning, she called my uncle (her brother) and my uncle insisted she go for X-ray. She relented and had her x-ray taken in Arunamari. My uncle called and told me the good news.... all is fine. Phew.... Now the wait for healing will probably bring her spirits down even more as mum is such a person that cannot sit still. The 1st few days was a real test for her. All day, she could only lie down on the bed. The sit up is a real torture and the expression on her face shows it all. Mum is so impatient to get well that she wants to visit any physician or "sin seh" recommended by her friends. To keep her spirit up, I just took her to anywhere she wants to. During this time, mum has lost some weight. Thank god, her best friend chip in to cook for our dinner. We only need to cook the rice. My girl has "grown up" a bit. She helps around after school like cooking rice (she is good at it too) and also tends to mum whenever she is summons by mum.
My son was having fever since Tuesday, June 3.. fever on nd off. Took him to the clinic on Wednesday, June 4 thinking that it was just a normal fever lah..... Infact he was supposed to participate in the church camp, 3D 2N in Jugra, Banting. But I said we shall see how his condition is, trying to keep his spirits up and not disappointing him as both he and his sister, was really looking forward to this camp. I was reminded by my girl since the camp fees has been paid for (RM50) and it will be wasting unnecessary funds if I dont allow her brother to go for this camp. Wah lau eh......... telling me how money is hard to come by ????!! Anyway, come Thursday his was still having fever and told him the bad news... No camp this year.. sorry....! He was very calm about that (surprised surprised).
Sunday morning while washing him up, I noticed read spots on his hands and arms. Wow !!!! panic button.... Denggi ???? Rush him to the clinic and managed to get his blood for test but the results can only be out on Monday afternoon. Come Monday, received call from the clinic and doctor confirmed DENGGI !!! oH....oh.... all this is happening in 1 go. Had him admitted at Pantai Medical center and he got his nickname "DENGGI BOY". He has also "grown up" as well cos he was admitted in a two bedded room without a room mate. Left him alone and he managed well. Order his meals by himself ! Now that sounds like holiday resort with meals in bed. Thank god everyday his blood counts increases and by day four doctor says he is well enough to go home.
These two incidents was really a trying time for me. Thank god for giving me the inner strength to face all these, running from office to hospital to spent time with my son during lunch break. Back to work, fetch my girl from school, back to hospital in the evening till 8 pm. Rush home to mum for dinner and back to hospital before going home to sleep. Luckily, my boy did not kick up any fuss about staying alone in the room.
God, thank you.......

A POEM
Life is not meant, for laughter to be a constant thing,
For if there were no winter,
what heart would yearn for spring?
And who would know the beauty that follows after rain,
had storm clouds not scurried across a dusty plain?
For life is filled with shadows,
to make the sun worthwhile,
And one who weeps, remembers
and in remembrance, smile.
