South of Thailand ~ food paradise!
The night b4 the trip to Hatyai , I didn't sleep well at all as always cuz i was thinking about what i had forgotten to pack and worried that i may over sleep. i think i only had about 3 or 4 hrs of sleep. But i woke up once the alarm went off and i was ready in 20 min . we went and picked up the rest of the passengers and met at my bro-in-law's house. We left in 2 cars , and stopped for breakfast at Bidor. Their specialty was wantan mee. It was not really spectacular but ok , i guess we can say its nice esp the shrimp wantan :) and after that we continued the journey. We made it to the border by lunch time and after checking into the hotel ( Mayflower Grande) , we went for a nice lunch at the Chinese shop right opp. Lee garden! Then it was shopping after that. i bought 2 pairs of shorts and that was when i knew i was FAT . i couldn't get into them at all. they would not get past my thighs !! so i went back and changed those for a denim skirt ! and i got a medium sized one and even that didn't fit me!! i had to get a Large ! see what i mean! ???? :( PIGGY me! Dinner was really nice and we ate at one of our fave restuarants simply called 59! . i was so bloated from eating too much and i even had beer. Phew. It was more shopping after that and i only got to sleep at about 1am!!! The next morning breakfast was at 8.30am but i was awake at 5.30am cuz i really had to go to the bathroom to pee ! and i had over eaten as well , so i also had to poo-poo at 5.30am! Hee Haa Haa! Breakfast was also another big meal at the regular haunt. I don't really fancy their noodles, bakuteh or chicken rice so i ordered eggs and ham, and even had 2 half boiled eggs with mini yau-cha-kuay! Shopping was even more intense on the 2nd day cuz we went to the market and bought a ton of stuff. I got 2 pairs of jeans and 2 pairs of shorts and lots of T shirts. Lunch was in MK steam boat at the Big C . I reallyl love Thai steamboat, its very similar to the one in COCA. Again we over ordered and couldn't finish the food. Since we were at the mall we shopped some more but this time i didn't buy that much. I got a pair of PJs for myself and my mum! And diane and i bought a jacket each cuz it was really cheap and nice. We had that chocolate fondue with ice cream and fruits at Swenson at the shopping was all done, wooo hoooo!!! i was pretty tired, so by the time we got back to the hotel i had a short rest after a shower. Dinner was seafood stuff and it was delicious. The restaurant is called Hia Kui and the boiled cockles are soooo well done, bloody and soft ....hahahaa! Gross huh??? The tomyam was fantastic, the pineapple fried rice was to die for , and the grilled mackerel scrumptious! Drool drool! The night shopping was just so so and i bought some dresses. We had supper in the night cuz my niece and I wanted to make sure my youngest sis -in-law Pauline tried the duck noodles and she really liked it :) she ate a whole bowl by herself , but Mei and i shared one. We also had sotong bakar and lin chi kang! The next day for breakfast i decided to take it slow and shared a bowl of noodles with Diane :) and then it was back to the market and this time we targeted the bags and shoes. I bought a pair of formal court shoes in black velvet and a red bag. I really didn't want to get any more bags as i had bought about 4 last September when i was there. But everyone bought one , and they each got a different colour so i guessed it was nice and cheap so i opted for a red one and then everyone bought an Anna Sui dinner purse so i got one as well!! i just followed the crowd! Heck , everything was so affordable wat!!! For lunch i had suggested that we try western food cuz i noticed that Sizzler was having this very good deal . If u order a main dish ( grilled pork loin , beef steak or chicken at 16.90) , u get to have the appetizer and salad bar buffet free. it includes 4 varieties of soup and some desserts too! So we went for that , and it was a good choice. i had a steak and Diane had her grilled chicken. My hubby had steak. I loved the salad , and the dessert was the best, they had 2 choices of mousse ~ choc or strawberry. I shopped for just a bit more after that and went back to the room for a snooze. i was dead tired. At 7pm Mei called and asked if i wanted to get my hair done ! we had noticed that the Thai girls were walking around with some kind of glittery tinsel in their hair and we asked around and found that they tie some very fine tinsel strands into the hair and its pretty. They charge 1Rm for each strand. So we went for that , i got about 10 strands. and Mei got 20. My older niece did 27. !! later on even my older sis -in-law did some too! they had their manicure done too but i didn't want that. For dinner we went to this new place called Log terrace and it looks really wow. The food there was ok , they all loved it but i hate eating in the dark so i didn't really like the food there :P the ambiance was nice tho. They have nice decor and its very outdoorsy with cave like structures and ponds with a waterfall and all that.I went for some last minute shopping after that but didn't buy much. i slept after i packed my stuff , and this time i slept till 8.30am .we had a quick breakfast and at the last minute i bought another pair of red sandals and a red t shirt . I guess i am all set for teh CNY with my very red ensemble! At 10am we checked out of the hotel and i ran over to McD to get a bacon burger and a mcflurry ! we left Thailand at 10.30am and it was a long journey home . The traffic was bad , and we only got home at 8pm! Phew!!!!But it was fun and i cant wait to go again :)

Chronicles of Bangkok
It took us about an hour to clear immigration at Bangkok airport due to the huge crowd as well as Thailand's ruling for all visitors' photos to be taken - coming in and going out of the country. Bodoh punya system, so time consuming!! We checked into our hotel, Le Fenix, located just across from Q-Bar and then headed for late lunch.
The 5 days we were in Bangkok involved a lot of walking. I was popping pills the whole time ... eh eh... I meant panadols-lah.. leg pain mah!
On our first night, we had dinner on a boat cruising along the Chao Praya River and after dinner, the walking began - at Suan Lum night bazaar. The shopping spree officially took off that night too. (at the end of the trip, Mic ended with 10 pairs of shoes/sandals ; AB & SP shared a jumbo box to airfreight some of the things they bought, home. Penny spent until duit habis.. )
The next day, being a Sunday, we went over to Chatuchak weekend market. More walking, more shopping. It was pretty hot inside the market so after a couple of hours some of us took refuge at the aircond shopping mall just beside Chatuchak.
That night, dinner was at Tawandang German Brewery where the band played mostly oldies. Later there was a magic show where the magician swung a fishing line and fishes would start appearing at the end on the line. We were truly amazed because the fishes were still alive as they appeared. Then, a lady dressed in Chinese opera costume did a face-mask changing act followed by a performance from a different band. They brew their own beer here which must have tasted good; my friends drank 26 mugs between them! Me - I had chinese tea and a cup of latte.
Day 3 - Ancient City, (Muang Boran) the world's largest outdoor museum (320 acres) which mimics the shape of Thailand and features replicas of the country's most famous landmarks and monuments. We rented a 6-sitter golf cart to get around. Good thing we didn't opt to cycle (as was my initial suggestion) because the place is really big and it was really a hot day. Our cart kept going on the wrong side of the road just so we could get away from the sun! We left after 2 hours and now I can proudly proclaim that I have seen the whole of Thailand in miniature form !
From Ancient City, it was off to MBK (Mah Boon Krong) Bangkok largest shopping mall for lunch at the very modern and clean food court and of course, to continue shopping. By now I was beginning to panic as I still hadn't bought anything in the past couple of days. Thank god it was here that I made my first purchase since arriving Bangkok. I bought a t-shirt for my maid and some tit-bits for home.
That evening, dinner was at an Italian restaurant called ICI. (I think) It was voted Restaurant of the year 2006. Personally I found the food to be just average.
Our hotel do not provide kettles and each time I wanted a cup of coffee I had to call reception for a pot of hot water which meant I had to tip the waiter for every pot he brought. Fed up of having to fork out more tips, that night after dinner, I bought a mini kettle at Robinsons. The kettle was my most expensive purchase for the entire trip. And it was below RM 30.00!
Day 4 we had to wake up extra early as we were going to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. We left the hotel by 8am and had chartered a 13-seater van to get us there. It was quite a pleasant experience coasting along the narrow canal on a boat. Reminded me of playing dodgem - the boats collided with each other as the boatmen refused to yield or let another boat pass. There were some scary moments when the boat would tilt to one side. Aaahh... takut gua!
From here we proceeded to the Royal Grand Palace & Emerald Buddha for more sightseeing. Trying to save cost, we declined the services of a tour guide. This was a mistake as we couldn't make out what each monument/temple represented. Unfortunately, the Emerald Buddha temple was closed to vistors that day as there was a ceremony (with chanting) going on at the courtyard but we could catch a glimpse of the Emerald Buddha from the open doorway. Everything within the grounds was really grand and so full of history. Given a chance I would visit again and this time hire a guide!
We did not have the stamina to walk the whole grounds and decided to leave. The driver had earlier told us to call him after we finished and he would pick us from the park across the street. While waiting, I was approached by an old lady (I noticed her feeding the pigeons) who pushed some packets of corn towards me. I declined but she was very insistent and made a motion of rubbing her tummy. From her gestures,I interpreted that her job was to feed the pigeons and she wanted my help to complete the feeding so she could leave as she was hungry. I finally took 3 packets from her and was relieved that she walked away after giving me the 3 packets. Happily I threw the seeds to the birds .... weee birdies birdies come n mum -mum .... Once done I walked towards the rest of the group but felt somebody tugging my arm .. it was the old lady and she said ' money' and put out her hand towards me. Well it costs me 60 bahts for 3 small packets of corn. My friend, Grace commented, " I cannot believe anyone can be so gullible."
The driver dropped us at a nearby restaurant named S & P facing the Chao Phrya river. The food here was quite good or maybe we were hungry? After lunch we went to the Gems Gallery where Penny bought a ring and matching ear studs ; something that looked like diamond but isn't and only if you are an expert would you know better. Bolih tipu orang . wink.. wink !!
From Gems, the driver made his final drop and we alighted at The Platinum Fashion Mall at Pratunam. More walking, more shopping. That evening, we got a bit adventurous and decided to go back to the hotel on two 3-sitter tuk-tuks. Mind you, the drivers are hell drivers... Good thing I was seated in the centre. Phew...
After a quick shower, we walked to a nearby restaurant called Zanzibar for dinner. Alamak ! the food here very expensive-man. I swear it was not our intention to potong Mic's neck as it was her treat! We had a very quick dinner and then all 6 cramped into a normal sized cab to Suan Lum night bazaar again. This time I did better, I manage to buy 1 T-shirt & 3 boxers plus an adapter. (for the kettle)
Day 5 - We went back to Chatuchak as Ab & SP took more things to fill up the jumbo box which costs RM 500.00 for door delivery by air. While they were at it, the rest of us ventured to the mall next door. On my final morning at Bangkok, I bought another 3 T-shirts and 10 pcs of scented soaps. From there we rushed back to the hotel and reached just in time to check out at 1.00pm. We had planned to go early to the airport for lunch and for some last minute shopping. We also paid additional 200 bahts per pax for priority boarding.
Itu priority boarding tipu orang punya... You may not have to queue when the gates are open but the bad news is, we had to board a bus to get to the plane which means that there is no guarantee that you will be the first to get off the bus when you reach the plane.
Again there was another long queue to get through immigration leaving us just enough time for a quick lunch before we had to check in to catch the plane for home.
Unfortunately, all the photos I took in Bangkok had to be erased as there was a problem with my camera's memory card and it had to be reformatted. I would so love to have shared some of the sights of Bangkok with you. Well, maybe another time. What a long post.... hope you don't fall asleep reading?

Asian idol ...... HAHAHAHA Hady!
On saturday night when we all sat in front of the Tv to watch the show, we also sat and calculated the best way to send in our votes to ensure that our local idol wins. So we each voted for jac and for the 2nd choice we each chose a different one. So jac would have 5 of our votes but the rest of the idols would only get 1 each from our family!!!! in any case, jac still didnt win :( Our efforts didnt pay off at all!!
But we know that jac is the real winner. Maybe i am just being biased and too Malaysian to admit it !! but i do think that even tho mike did ok, and that Mau has a powerful voice, jac stood out in her own way. She sounded more professional than the rest. Some said that hady was the whole pacakge , looks and all ... Heck, jac is a package on her own too!
Go see for yourself!

L-e-t u-s t-a-l-k!!!
QUOTE
The m-a-i-d got a l-e-t-t-e-r from her m-o-t-h-e-r today and she wants her to buy a h-a-n-d-p-h-o-n-e . She also wants her to go back in M-a-y. I told her that the a-g-e-n-t says they arent allowed to have h-a-n-d-p-h-o-n-e-s . In the night i heard the sound of a b-e-l-l in her room. It makes the sound r-i-n-g r-i-n-g , like the b-e-l-l on your anklet! I asked her what it was and she said that its the r-a-d-i-o. And this morning , she was cutting the s-t-a-r f-r-u-i-t , and she was cutting it the shape of s-t-a-r-s. i told her to stop cuz we dont cut the f-r-u-i-t that way! But she refused to stop. And she even cut up a ton of g-ar-l-i-c to keep . i told her that those dont keep well but she insists they do!! >
UnQUOTE
The conversation was longer than this but believe me it sure felt really really long cuz it was not easy deciphering all her spellings! Its not that i cant spell , u try it out and see how difficult it is to listen and make out spelled out words like that. NO wonder we talk like that when we dont want our kids to know what we are talking about! Heck even adults cant decipher it!!! LOL i tried it with my sis and she was like huh?? what?? wait wait , spell it again , h-a-n what??? ...and what's g-a-r-l-i-c? ... Phew!!! But that is my mum for u!!!! So next time u want to tell a secret and don't want to whisper u can try this , it sure makes it tough for the other person to get your drift. By the time they figure out what m-e-n-o-p-a-u-s-e is , i would be 70!!!!

Auntie, that's me !
(P.S. At time of writing results were NOT out yet… but it has taken me days to write this and at time of publish, yeap, she got through and will be graduating next month, I think. Congrats !)
Mei Leng ‘s kids came back for their holidays and the family came over for dinner last Monday. As always, each time they come back for holiday, the boys bring me crossword books from Australia. Do they do it out of a sense of duty or are they really fond of their Auntie, me? Hmm… I wonder?
After the visit from them and whilst browsing through Sue Li’s blog, a feeling of melancholy struck me and I kind of, felt old. How big they’ve grown, my nephews and nieces! Thank God they have matured to become such fine & decent young people. Not like some kids, boys with long messy hair etc … shudder .. shudder !! I would never say it out loud, but I really am so proud of them and yes, I am fond of them too, more than they will ever know or guess!
What impression do they have of me? When they were young, I guess I wasn’t much of a doting aunt. Kids scared me (and still do) and the best thing I could do was ignore them. Whenever I speak to kids, it always comes out sounding harsh, and they end up terrified. Yes, best thing is to ignore them! Besides, come to think of it, Mei Leng’s kids were brats when they were younger! Mei Mei’s were so quiet that you hardly noticed them. What more, when we sisters get together, its difficult for anyone to get any words in edgewise as we will all be babbling at the same time. Blah blah blah… If everybody’s talking at the same time, who is listening? I remember clearly the 2 girls following Mei Leng’s eldest around - as if he was a much adored idol. That was so cute. Must have been uncomfortable for Cheng Rui though. I doubt he appreciated the attention he got from the 2 girls at his age then.
Kids, you have lived such charmed and sheltered lives. Everything has been taken care of and paid for by your parents so far. Soon though, you will have to venture out into the world to make a living. I fret and worry about each of you, how will you cope being exposed to the harshness & realities of life? What do you know about survival in the outside world? I pray that whatever challenges and trials you go through will serve to strengthen you into becoming responsible and caring individuals.
What words of wisdom can I bestow upon you? Have I set any fine examples for you to emulate? (snicker, snicker .. what ? a die hard cigarette smoking gambler???) Maybe, by way of example I may have failed you guys totally. But I want each and everyone of you to know, I will always be here for you. That is my promise to you. Just so you know.... I am afterall, your aunt.

sawadeekah........
Day 1 - 19 Nov 2007
Yup, I am back.......from my holidays and also to blog after such a long absence. Like the title suggest..... (in hokkein) 3 wah ti kah ... hahahaha... (get it ???). Thats another way of learning Thai. I was in Krabi / Trang, Thailand last week for 5 days holidays with my family. We flew Air Asia lah.... - Now everyone can fly mah. Our flight from LCCT was on time :-) but we have to wait for 2 different families that were late on board. The plane could not take off as these passengers have checked in and their names have been manifested, somehow or rather the plane have to wait for them. Macam lah VVVIP. We waited for about 10 mins for them and the pilot was not happy at all. He waited for them at the door and stop them from boarding. They were questioned as to why they were late and he gave them a good lecture. So once everyone was on board, the runway pulak jam... aiyooooo...... runway oso can jam... how lah. There were too many planes landing and taking off, so have to wait in line. We waited for about 20 mins before our flight was permitted to take off. After take off, the pilot announce that we could have arrived our destination earlier but because of these passengers (irresponsible), we had to queue for take off. Then kena lecture again on what time must check in ..blah.. blah... blah....
Wah din know, Krabi airport is so much better than our LCCT. Betul betul.. cannot imagine. Spanking new and cantik. Anyway, we went through Immigration with breeze and on the way out, already saw my name on the placard liao. Our transport was waiting for us. We were on our way to Trang which is 1 1/2 hour drive from Krabi. As our arrival in Krabi was almost to lunch time, I tried to tell my guide but he cant even speak english. Alamak... die die..... how lah. So have to use Universal sign language. First show the time on my watch, then my left hand act as a bowl and my right hand like scouping food into my mouth. Then I have to rub my stomach and viola.. he smile.... which either meant I look stupid or he understood. No words was exchange and I told my family c lor...... its like chicken and duck story... hahaha... finally when we were almost reaching our hotel, the van stop outside a cafe. !! He understood.... yea yea..... food.. food..... So, we quickly whisked ourselves into the cafe and sat down. Menu was placed on our table. When we open the menu, my children says.. mummy, I cant understand what is written on the menu somemore no pictures to point and order. Oh boy,,, what a way to begin our holiday. So luckily one of the waitress came and I said - No understand thai... English only. Thank god, she understood and quickly came back with the English version. We ordered 3 x fried rice, spagetti and 2 x noodles and whack everything down in a jiffy. :Luckily food came as quickly as we ordered. Hungry visitors....... Lunch approx. RM50. With our stomach fill up, we were looking forward to checking in and resting. So arrived the hotel which is approx. 10 mins drive from where we had lunch. Another adventure, as the front desk says No reservation under my name.... aiyooo.... apa jadi lah. Quickly called my agent and after a few blah blah..... then finally...... yes got room. When the front dest asked me if I have any written confirmation, I answer "no hap" My girl was wondering why suddenly my english has gone "berserk"....hahaha.... Wah.. finally dapat jugak room. We didnt wonder too far from our hotel as we need to get ready for dinner. Agent has kind enough to buy us dinner - what dinner and where we oso donno. If we all really kena kidnap, may God help us - we are all sitting ducks and chicks. When we arrived, the place looks like hangout for the locals, serve bar-b-q, seafood. Wah... betul betul kenyang.... ada prawns, otak-otak, squid, tomyam, clear fish head soup, veggies, fish.. aiyo makan until tak boleh masuk... burp.... The food kept coming......
Day 2 - 20 Nov -The next morning, we had leisure breakfast at the hotel. By the way, the hotel is Thumrin Thana hotel. (according to locals, it is the best hotel in town). Not 5 star lah. We were all adventurous to try some of their local food and there were quite good. They only charged my kids - THB750 each. Damn cheap !! We checked out right after breakfast and the island resort, Koh Ngai resort had sent in their pick up to fetch us to the pier. From the hotel to the pier took about 45 mins. Once we arrived at the pier, we had to pay marine fees of THB200 each adult, children was free. They normally charged THB100 for children. Maybe got promo for kids...hehehe.. The ferry ride took about approx. 40 mins from the mainland to the Koh Ngai resort. Ah... adventure begins the moment we arrived Koh Ngai resort. The ferry could not reach the beach due to low tide, so we had to transfer to smaller boat. Our luggages was transfered to another boat as well. Almost reaching the beach, we had to jumped into the water and walk to the beach - kaki ayam. Fun begins already... Arrived the hotel with welcome drinks waiting for us. Wah... cold cool fruit cocktail. Checked in and then it was time for lunch. Wah....hungry stomach and luckily food came pretty fast. Presentation of the food was good and taste also good. Will try to put some photos in later.
Day 3 - next blog.

food ... from a different perspective
I was sort of whining to a friend the other day that I was out of topic... If I write yet another dog story, I sure kena hantam-one.That caused me to hesitate even tho' I was bursting to tell anybody willing to listen - how I rescued 1 of 2 puppies from a manhole despite the obstacles, and how, today the 2 of them are named "Ah Sar & Ah Kiew". (after the HK singers, "The Twins" - Gillian Chung & Charlene Choi.) So cute leh.
My friend said it was natural for bloggers to write about their passions, E about Food and me about Dogs. As for S, she doesn't keep reverting to 1 particular issue so guess she is inscrutable where her passion is concerned! Miss Mysterious.....
It is strange that 4 of us attended the same buffet dinner and whereas E can go on and on about the food, I was walking around and around and around wondering what to eat ! Oysters to me is yuckks-tastes just like mud. Suchi and all those uncooked food are doubly yucks! Basically I am a meat person and it has to be 'well done'. It was a sad day for me when I reached the end of the food counter and learnt that there wasnt's any roast lamb or chicken wings/chops or steak. Aiyoh, satay pun tak ada!
How to get my money's worth leh? Even at half price, it was still about RM 43.00 per head.. tsk tsk.. many packets of cigarettes. I couldn't tapow any food for the strays because M moved our seats from a secluded corner to somewhere really conspicuous - next to the coffee/tea counter manned by a waiter throughout the evening. I then thought to myself, "nyak-ah-ah, (sneaky laugh) at least I can drink 7 cups of coffee!" But alas, even the coffee was too bitter for my liking and goodness gracious, I only drank 1 cup!
Sigh ... the only consolation was seeing the rest of them enjoying plates after plates of so-called goodies! One man's meat is another man's poison... how true... Having said that, do I get to choose the venue for my birthday treat next month, do I, do I? And please don't anyone dare tell me that they are on a diet then!

Chocolate overload
Let's start off with the 1st Sunday of November. We had a chiapkoot session at F's villa with only 3 FEMS members and my youngest sis-in-law who happens to be a keen kaki. I only found that out after she left the country for a few mths to pursue some illegal activities ( hahahaha) in UK! Oops, ... hush-hush... i can still hit the delete button but never mind la, she is back safely here now :) but none the wiser! HAHAHAHA! Anyway back to that Sunday, it was a fun and profitable session for me ( and S) . We planned to have another session on Thursday ( Deepavali ) and said that we would finalise that later.
Monday came and i had to skip my workouts in the gym for M's birthday treat. We went to Sunway's Sun N Surf for buffet dinner since we had a good deal, using the UOB credit card and getting 50% off the bill!! The spread was ok ~ i would say the main courses were nothing to shout about BUT the dessert spread was to die for!!! U know me lah, i am Miss SWEET TOOTH , so the sight of that chocolate fountain had me grinning from ear to ear! OK lah, the appetisers are kind of good too . I ate about 8 raw oysters, some sushi and sashimi, a California roll, a tom yum soup, some main courses and then jumped, skipped, galloped and danced my way to the dessert table over and over again :) I had the cheesecake , the apricot pudding , the choc fudge cake, the black forest cake and tartlets. yes yes ALL that. And M was asking me why i only brought ONE dessert spoon with me .... Little did she know that i was NOT sharing my desserts!!! Helloooooo, got many many cakes there la , u go get yourself la, My plate full already!!!! hehehehehe! M nibbled a bit off my place ( yes she went and got herself a spoon and ate off my plate!!!) When her spoon came back for more , i had gobbled down all my "sweeties" and she was like WAH u finished all ???? YESSS :) And i went for more! This time i played with the chocolate fountain :) dipping the marshmallows and strawberries into the flowing chocolate. DROOL-ICIOUS!! And M had a better idea which was doubly chocolatey! She dipped the choc fudge cakes into the choc fountain too! Wahhhhhhhhhh, sinfully ecstatic! Needless to say i was all chocolated out that night. I came home and suffered the consequences like a kid who overdid the candies! I went to bed with a tummy ache , and felt the same nauseous feeling the next day! I dont think i can look at another chocolate for ....let's see...... a week???? HAHAHAHA!
( i really didn't want to make this a food post, HONEST !! ..... but FOOD is my passion ~ what to do? )
Ex-chocoholic ( for a week)

things back to normal
Sorry for making you all worried over me when I was blogging earlier. I just need an outlet to release my "garbage". Anyway, thank you for your concern and kind thoughts. F, you are on your winning streak, ah ?? Every session you are the top sole winner... :-P
Well, the long weekend is coming soon...... with Hari Raya Puasa just a few hours away. I dont have any special plans or anything line out. It will be another quiet weekend with housework to do and probably some spring cleaning before Christmas. Yeap, Christmas is also coming up soon and soon Chinese New Year.... Time does fly very fast. :-(. Most of the national schools are already on Raya holidays since yesterday. My kids (chinese medium) has just completed their final exams today and they will be on 1 week break. From this saturday, 13 Oct - 21 Oct, 07. So they will be enjoying their freedom for the next 10 days and me another break as well. I dont have to wake so early in the morning for the next 10 days... YAHOOOOOOOOO.... and no need to rush my morning chores as well.
Today's work is so so as most of the offices are already closed and most of the Malay staff in the office are "celebrating" their raya. Only left those non malays with some work to finish. Even if there are work to be done but most of us are already on the holiday mood including me as well. Just got wind, that we are allowed to go home 1/2 hour earlier. Well some complain, aiya 1/2 hour only, ah ?? Well better than nothing lor........
F n E is thinking of going up to Genting for F to try her luck on winning some from Uncle Lim and perhaps with F winnings, may sponsor us to the "Black Pea" concert. BTW, the ticket price is rather steep lah unlike MLTR which is affordable to us. F as I have mentioned earlier - On winning streak each time we play so........ F.... all the way, Yes !!!
Well, c u all 2moro evening for the dinner......

Malaysia - The heart transplant girl, Hui Yi have been given life twice, within the 24 hours. Her 1st transplant was successful unfortunately her system rejected the new heart. It must be divine intervention as the very next day, they managed to get another donor for her and managed to replaced it. The team of doctors and donors were god send. Hui Yi has waited for a year before they manage to find donor for her. Hope she will cherish and enjoy her life to the fullest as I believe God has plans for her.
My dad will probably be going to IJN for check up next month. Doctors at Klang GH has recommended that it would be best for him as IJN has all the facilities and moreover, should he require an operation for his heart, IJN is the best and the price is reasonable.
Like F says, there are too many things to attend to and to please everyone is not easy. There are other events that happen which involve me as well and sometimes, I wish I could just say out loud.... ENOUGH !!! Please dont tell me about this and that, I dont want to know but I cant do that. Sometimes, I feel that I am losing it and will probably have a nervous breakdown but I have to hold on as I have one too many responsibilities. I thank God for the strength within me and for always keeping me sane.
As for me, like F says in her blog, it is one of those days. We work as an employee for the sake of getting paid and bosses (when they had a bad day), they will unload all the "garbage" on you !! Well, that was exactly what happen to me last week. When you do the right thing or does something right, no one remembers. But if you do one thing wrong..... hell break loose...... :-(
As the chinese saying goes.....yan, sabar, lun (in hokkein), patience. Sometimes, we tell ourselves, enough is enough..... Y do we have to take the "garbage" from them. Well at times, I do feel the same and must say, I honestly have enough and would like to say " I QUIT" but I cant as responsibilities are aplenty. So, maybe the next best thing to do is to move on.......... I am comptemplating for that move.
There are staff that mislead the company and also funds instead of terminating their services for their wrong doing, they are rewarded with company amenities - like company car and the management will pretend as though nothing has happen. Even though these people are caught red handed with proof. ! What the %$#@ !! It is frustrating to know that management reward staff with wrong doing and the good ones... well.... bless you !! It is like having two side of the coin, either you are the head or the tail. Guess I am the tail. Work like "siao lang" and get &^%$ garbage. Maybe this would be a blessing in disguise for me to wake up and move on.
I didnt sleep well last night, worrying about the loading of one of the sets which was in load port for the last 7 days waiting. About 4 am, I woke up to check if there were any sms or news for this particular set but nothing. As the saying goes, No news is BAD news. Oh boy, as I lay in bed, thinking, today is gonna be another %$#@ shit day as probably I will be getting another load of garbage. Thank and praise God this morning, on my way to work about 7+, I have received some good news...loading have started early this morning at 2 am. What a great relief and I could actually breathe easily and felt some huge relief has lifted from my chest.
I am looking forward to the long weekend to ponder over my next move and what I would do or say should I decide to move on.

Just one of those days .
Thanks to S for trying to keep our blog alive despite her tight schedule. She contributed at least 2 posts while E & I were away. Reckon she’s the busiest amongst us as her other half is still based in India. (He’s back for a short holiday though so she’s having her own ‘merdeka’ now.) What with work commitments, family obligations, household chores and what-nots, I wonder where she gets her energy and time to juggle and manage everything? You drink Malta-kah, S? My sis swears that if you are feeling lethargic, a can of Malta will invigorate you for sure.
For the most part, I enjoy my work. I am actually quite a workaholic ahem! i.e. without going overboard like some people I know. Towards end month when its almost payday, are the best part of working life. The anticipation of yearly bonuses is also an added plus.
Sometimes though, as S often says, ‘it’s one of those days! Everything seem to go wrong and more often than not, it doesn’t just last for a day but could stretch on for days or like now, weeks. Aiyaaa…fed-up man!
Being a Christian, I‘m not supposed to be superstitious, but each time problems pile up at work, I look with disdain at the Chinese flutes hanging at my office. In my mind I’m thinking, “your magic is not working.” My ex-colleague hung a couple of these flutes, for exactly what purpose I’m not sure, one over her head and one above mine as our desks are situated just below a beam on the ceiling. There is a belief that people whose work desks are beneath a beam will be bogged down with problems, as tho’ crushed by the weight of the beam. The solution, seemingly, is to either place a statue of an elephant, the bigger the better, on your desk or to stick a mirror on the beam. First time I hear of people hanging flutes though. Till today I am not sure what the flutes are supposed to accomplish but if it is to ‘buang suay’, doesn’t seem to be working now.
This inauspicious phase is causing me to go around with a perpetual sour face. So if we happen to meet and you see a scowl on my face, you know why-la- "It's one of those days".

My own Busy-ness
On many many occasions i had been online and wanted to add a post in here, with a million topics to blog about. When i am not on the PC, my mind is full of ideas, but once i sit here i hesitate for fear that i may say the wrong stuff. Some things are too personal ( not for me but for the ones i blog about ) and i do not wish for a 3rd party to think i am talking about them. Not that what i say is offensive but it may be too personal. Some topics may seem too judgmental , some topics may make me look bad cuz i can be quite opinionated at times :P Thus i had been quiet for a while, trying to get a happy medium, stay on a safe topic and not "teck chooi" (hokkien) anyone !!!
Lots had been happening in my life but i have to sieve thru what i can say and what i cant cuz it somehow involves some other people. Hmmmm, maybe i can tread on some thin ice here and just say a bit about my life superficially , without mentioning names at all. If u think its U , then u are wrong , cuz i think the people i mean do not read this blog and have no right being in here ! Hehehehe, no lah , that's a bit too harsh and judgemental again ! Yikes!!!
OK , i do my share of part time jobs that i like and enjoy. A little bit of pocket money and a ton of fun is what i get from my classes. THAT i have no complaints about .... ermmm, except for one particular snag lah! The Kiasu and competitive attitude of the instructors leave much to be desired. The bitchiness and gossips are all part of the package but i managed to stay clear of those undesirable elements, and i am blessed that i can be indifferent and DIFFERENT ( from all the rest!) ...if u know what i mean ! i just do my stuff and leave the rest alone. In other words i dont care what u do and say! ( as long as its not about me!!)
My other very part time job pays a whole lot more but its as erratic as a menopausal woman!!! ( again i am not referring to any woman in particular Heheheh) One minute i get a good offer and i say OK i will take it ,even tho the stress of driving to the location is humongous! Then i sit in front of the Pc and cram a day's work into 2 short hours ( phew) , send it of via email and wait for the approval. After the approval i wait for a confirmation that does not come and the date line draws nearer and i still don't hear a peep from the people involved. i cant just jump at the drop of a pin and get ready for work in a day! This needs preparation and lots of "tools" . So the waiting sort of takes away the joy and the fun. And it makes me sit and think of the down-side of the job. So now i am secretly hoping that it wont be approved , nyah ha ha !!!! Then i can plan a holiday in November and December :)
My 3rd grouse this month is about some high flying occasion that i dread going to . So i was secretly praying AGAIN ( looks like i am doing a lot of that lately!). I know any fellow Malaysian would love to get an invite for this "do" but not me, i had been to a few and don't like to be among the elite. Dressing up and making small talk is not my idea of a fun night. Sigh! I was asked to provide them with my address and phone number via email but i waited till the last possible moment to get back to them. By then i had a number of SMS's sent my way asking me for this and that and if i remember so and so. I waited till 2 days b4 the big event to reply and said "oops its too late for the invite to arrive. "So i am safe. My close friend is grumbling about this and calling me a bloody cow !!! ( pardon the french!) So as of now, she is still trying to get out of it as well,. Let's see if she is successful. Its 4 hours away from NOW!
I have more stuff going on in my life..... but better stop here or else it will be endless! sigh!
E-longated breath ( hehehee! Something like Cheong hey !)

Anyway, some update as nowadays i dont have the time to go online and MSN with E,F,M. As I have mentioned last week, M is looking around for contractors to do up her house, semi D which she has purchased earlier. Th other day, I "kei poh" and went over to see her house while the contractor was there with her friend, J. Looks like M is going to hack almost the whole house, including replacing all the piping and electrical wiring as well. According to the contractor, the work is most likely takes about 4 months to complete. Price ?? Dont dare to imagine........ Honestly, the house needs a complete make over and of course, with the sign S and II, anything is possible. Well, lets see how much M has to fork out for her house make over. I was informed the 1st contractor has quoted est. RM100K just for hacking and other works not including the tiles and the 2nd quote RM90K+ for the same work. Dont know if M will get another quote to compare. Anyway, it is not gonna be an easy task. Good Luck, M.
F and me have been planning to Tj. Sepat since our last trip there and seems everytime we tried to plan but never seems to materialise. Wonder Y ?? F did tried to plan with her other group of friends but tak jadi also. In fact, last weekend, both of us were planning a trip there with my friend, M as tour guide also tak jadi. As F said, Tj. Sepat and us "boh yuan"..... :-( Dont worry, F, we will plan again.
Time flies and now it is October. Very soon November - school holidays, December - Christmas, and January - New year and then chinese New year. Like the picture, it is a long, long road but we will be alright. :-) The picture was taken when we were in BKK, on the way to the Tiger sanctuary which is run by the monks that walk freely with tigers. Mind you, the tigers are NOT caged up and tourist can just walk around the park. Dont know if the tigers have attack any visitors, though. The interesting thing was, we spent almost three hours on the road to visit the place but didnt get the chance to go in as it was drizzling at that time and the sanctuary was closed to visitors as the tigers were afraid of thunder and lightning. What a blow to us.... F if you intend to visit the place, please check on the weather first...... :-p
Hope to see you gals soon.......

weiiii again......via cyber
Anyway, we had our old girls gathering last Saturday, 22nd Sept at Auntie Juliet in Kota Kemuning. About 30 of us attended with half of them - familiar faces - those faithful attendance for the last 7 years. A big thank you and appreciation to F for her effort and those 7 years - faithfully organising for us... Kudos... F....... As a reminder, everyone has voted you as our life president so you cannot vacate your seat nor request for replacement..... :-) We want F and we support F..... This year we had two new faces, Rosemary and Beng Cheng. Its their 1st attendance and hope both will make it again next year. The food catered for 30 pax and we had some balance food after all and everyone gets to take back some. Anyway, the 2 hour + that we spent is not sufficient as there are lots of gossip and stories to exchange. Mind you, 364 days of gossip and stories x 30 pax.... Mana cukup......??! Can you imagine the noise we make that afternoon ..??!! Only 30 pax ler, if more, aiyooo,,,, will bring the whole building down. hahaha...
A little info on the place we had the gathering. Owned by a chinese single mother of nine children, age ranging from 30+ to 10 years of age. The cafe is run by her eldest daughter and assisted by foreign helpers, donno which nationality lah but looks like myanmar or indonesia.
Auntie Juliet is a "homely" cafe that serves nyonya, western, chinese and malaysian cruisine with reasonable prices. Homely - interior decor is like as though used to decorate their previous home. The cafe is three storey builiding - ground and 1st floor used for business and probably the 3rd floor is where home is lah. We have tried almost everything in the menu and our ratings.... superb..... and the desserts are yummy delicious....... yum yum... We will be making some visits there again soon.
E you missed out some of the delicious food ler.....

P.S. I Love You .... Malaysia
I have recently taken an interest in the political going-ons in our country which means I have been reading blogs rather than writing my own. Malaysia Today, Rantings by MM etc etc all make for good & informative readings for behind-the political-scene issues not reported (fully) in our dailies. It's disheartening to read such blogs which paints a non-too-rosy future for Malaysia and Malaysians alike.
Whenever you watch Yasmin's Ahmad's commercials, doesn't it touch you to see Malaysians of different races interacting as one? It is my belief that this is possible - that the average guy on the street, whatever his race, do get along with his neighbours or colleagues of different races. Throughout my life, I have had Malays and Indians as close friends. But there are people out there to create chaos which have heightened disharmony, disatisfaction & distrust among the people and the sad part is, that they are supposedly among the leaders of the country.
However, being the optimistic Sagitarrian that I am, I'd like to believe that along with the rotten eggs, there are many, many influential people who love our country and who will fight tooth and nail to safeguard the rights of the people. They, together with the die-hard small fry patriots like yours truly may be able to salvage what's left of a bad situation and revive our languished country.
We pray that there may come a time when all Malaysians will be proud to proclaim that they are Malaysians .... not because we have the tallest building, longest or biggest what-nots but simply because there is peace & prosperity among the people that the world can only envy. Happy 50th Merdeka, Malaysia!!

cold morning
Aiya... raining since early morning and continue even till now......
July come and now it is end of July. Nothing much have taken place or to talk or gossip about :-)
Except we went for the MLT concert in Genting on July 14th. Everyone went (in our group lah) this include Mar (which we are still waiting for her to contribute in our blog) + E's girls and my two "angels". We all stayed at 1st world hotel. E n F manage to book early and got good rates on the rooms. The hotel is most of the time full and the waiting time to check is ARGH........... We have to wait almost for 2 hours before our numbers were being flashed on the board... Ding dong.... We could actual check in via their automated "something lah" but we opt for the "human touch" as we wanted our rooms on the same floor and possible connecting rooms. So everyone was just standing and waiting. What a wait it was. Mar decided to shop around. My twos found a comfortable corner with TV showing cartoons. So not much of complain from them, otherwise, i will go bonkers with their questioning... "why so long", "why still cannot check in", "why and why". E and her angels were playing "ngau". Some card game which we learned from F duing the last CNY holidays. Playing with 5 cards, the rule of the game is to make sure the bottom 3 cards must add up to ten. Secondly, nbr 3 can be 6 and 6 can be 3 (confusing leh... ) I think so... :-) F must correct me, if i am wrong.
Anyway, we finally check into our individual rooms. E with her girls, F and Mar (both of these two rooms are connected). Me and my angels. The moment we stepped into the room, both commented... "What a small room" and so small the TV. So more, no cupboard.... Ai ya, never mind lah, only 1 night. So off we go, for dinner and to our much awaited concert.....
We had a fun time screaming and singing along MLT. Popcorns was delicious toooooo...... F n Mar went to the casino after the concert. Me and E's family were at the fun park and my kids were playing their "eyes" out.. driving recklessly to beat the time on the screen and my heart pounding.. money going out fast....hahhahaaa....

hello hellooooooo
At the beginning all very good ah....Now lazy oledi..... including me, of course lah... :-)
E's two daughters all back liao. We had Bar B Q at E's hse last weekend and also our long long time past time, which we had not indulge for a long long time lah. It was a fun weekend as my twos got to play PS2 unlimited time as mummy was busy with her fav past time. So fair lah.....
I thought my girl would get over E's darling , Storm. How wrong I was !!! Even before we step into E's house, storm was already "greeting" us excitingly at the door. My girl was (as usual) timid and rather "scare" of storm. Mummy, mummy, carry me (aiyoooo). As we entered E's hse, storm was so excited with his new friends lah but my two was not comfortable with the attention by storm. Both sat on the sofa, my girl beside me and storm was jumping up and down, wondering how come this two small "fart" never acknowledge my greetings and presence. ?? So everyone has to calm Storm and I have to calm my twos. My son, W was ok with storm after a while but not my girl, S. I have to sit with her and she has "built" a fortress surrounding her from the sofa cushion. Occassionally, storm will go up to W and S, to say hello, hello, how come you not playing with me ??? Storm was down with flu that day, so he also manja manja sikit lah. He is like us, eating is his passion and one of his favourite indulges. (Hope he is fully recover by now).

Wee winnings ...
E's family was meeting up with E's sister, Ah Fun & her husband in Genting. Her name isn't really 'Ah Fun' but we (4fems) call her that. How she got that nickname is another story. We had lunch and then it was off to the casino for me. At her first attempt YS, who is a couple of weeks short of turning 21, was stopped by the guards from going in. Later she tried again and even though the guards checked her IC and found out she wasn't really 21 yet, they relented and let her in with a warning NOT to gamble.
The first RM 50.00 I invested lasted me the whole afternoon and at the end of the session, I won about RM 50.00. I am happy to have won at all because it's not easy to win in Genting. E lost a bit though. We arranged to meet back at the entrance at 6.30pm and then went back to Gohtong Jaya for dinner and home... What a pleasant way to spend a Sunday .... This Friday we will be heading for Genting again to catch MLTR's concert... Another chance to win at jackpot! Good luck to all those who intends to gamble... This time I won't forget my lucky bracelet !!

A not so exciting month for me...some people going holiday here n there
The past few weeks have been uneventful - very quiet. When I get off from work, I am half-dead from fatigue. Sign of old age or could it be something more sinister? Nights are mostly spent alternating between watching TV or DVDS and the occasional dinners with friends or family members. At present, I am watching “Heroes” on DVD. Should complete the whole of Season 1 by tonight.
The previous Sunday I went on a shopping spree with E and her girls. Their homecoming is a major event for us aunties too because with their return, we have more food related programs, additional short trips as well as our yearly karaoke session!! (Whereby the aunties will sing the same songs they sang the previous year and the year before that etc.)
Other than that, my other outings included a dinner with clients at Sri Ayutthaya in USJ 11. The food was expensive but taste-wise, so-so only. I liked the green curry though because it wasn’t pedas. Of course the ambiance was nice and the waiter, a Nepalese, was rather good-looking. The whole evening they put on those Thai music… tang tang ting tang ting … (reminding me of my coming Bangkok trip hee..hee..)
Then there was dinner to celebrate Michelle’s birthday at a restaurant near E’s place called Soon Kee. Hah… I must say the food was really good! Cheap too. Everyone was happy with the dishes served that night so much so we are going on 12th July again just to try their other dishes. We noticed other customers eating pork knuckles!! What else to order leh??
Obviously I am looking forward to July because Genting mali !!! Duit pun mesti mali. Go with expectations to win and you surely will. A word of advice, don’t be greedy. Leave as soon as you make some money. No point hanging around hoping to make more. Of course this rule doesn’t apply to me because I ENJOY playing slots.
Also, I think July we are going to make a trip to Tanjung Sepat, main stop – Arowana plus seafood. Must ask Grace when she wants to go. I very gian eat the krepek. Likely it’ll be just Grace, Percy & me. Anybody mau ikut?

what a holiday it was
As I have mentioned in my earlier blog, I was looking forward to spending my holidays in Bangkok from June 5 - 9, 5D/4N trip. Well overall, it was fun as we travelled in a group but overall it was tiring as we had too much packed in and trying to cover as much as we could during those days. Phew..... and with such a big group, everyone wants to do what they want and at times.. @#$%&^ do fly among ourselves, though not directly but discreetly.. :-)
Anyway, my young ones was looking forward to their 1st overseas stint and also because it is also their "Ungrounded" day, on the day we left for Bangkok. They were "grounded" for a month, NO cartoons n NO games.... So this trip is like a gift to them for completing their punishment.
Managed to get them from their beauty sleep in the early morning, 5 am and by the time, all our us were ready, our transport was also at the door step waiting to ferry us to the airport. Each group have arrange their own transport and will meet up in the airport. We all checked in as a group of 14 (adults + children) and with our boarding pass we checked through immigration and soon enough we were all waiting for the plane to arrive. Everyone was excited as some of us were going overseas for the 1st time and some was going for a holiday for the 1st time. Yeap, 1st ever holiday in their life time. There were questions asked like, eh, this boarding pass will be used for our return trip back from BKK ?? We are waiting at the wrong waiting area !
Anyway, we arrived safely in BKK and made it through immigration. Our guide greeted us at the airport and fi was the 1st person to sport him and basically run to him as she found him to cute !! Cant blame her lah still single and available mah. But soon she was making remarks about J on the way he walks. She thinks J is not a "straight" guy (if you know what i mean). Well, whether he is straight or otherwise, as long as he takes us around, who cares. FYI, he looks a little bit like our Mawi. Any Mawi fan out there ???
We visited some of BKK famous landmark and places of interest. We managed to squeeze some time for shopping and manage to get 1 foot massage, offer price of RM18.00 / 45 mins. Good deal, hor ? Coincidently, BKK is on sales. So everything is on sales, including massage.
BKK is one busy city but the best part is their public toilet. You will never ever imagine how these citizens of BKK manage to keep their public toilet soooooooo clean and "smelless". It is a crying shame to us, Malaysians so called better then them but dont know how to keep or use the toilet. Even the road side stall's toilet is clean. Aiyoooooooo.... macam mana kita tada tahu guna kah ??
In between our days in BKK, there were some tense moment among us but we manage to keep our cool out of respect for the elders. Otherwise, all the "char" words will surely be flying among ourselves and secondly we the young ones must learn to be patient (nyan - in cantonese). By the end of the week, i dont call this holiday but rather stressful outing. Thank god, the children were all very well behaved and didnt throw any tantrum or demands. We throughly enjoyed the food. We had cruise tour along Chao Praya river with buffet dinner on board. The dinner was superb with western, japanese and thai cruisine. Adults paid RM130 each while the children was 1/2 price. That was one expensive dinner but worth it lah - for the experience. Hehehe.....
On the 2nd day dinner, we had german food. Wow.. the pork knuckles was superb. Much better than our Euro deli back home. The price, you never imagine soooooooooo cheap....... Try lah.. take a while guess ?? Well,,,,,, to feed all 14, we only paid about RM400+ this includes fruit juice and german beer + 3 pork knuckles.
Third nite, we had buffet dinner at Saiyoke hotel, the tallest in BKK. They were having promo of RM55.00 / pax from their normal price of RM100.00. We were one of the earliest guests to arrived and the last few to leave... :-) Eat till we drop. My girl said "Aiyo, my stomach like going to explode". hahaha.... u know what that means lah. S (my other fren) girls, dont normally take a lot of food but that night practically everyone is eating like never eaten for days. They served lobster, crabs, prawns, fish, sushi, lamb chop, noodles, soup.. the list goes on and on.. the spread is worth the money spent. After dinner, we went to their revolving observation deck on the 83rd floor and we saw BKK at night with all the lights on, oh what a beautiful sight. FYI, ticket for the observation deck is about RM25.00 without dinner. We paid RM55.00 with dinner throw in.. good deal, right ??
The fourth nite we had a simple dinner - local steam boat with cute clay pot. We had fried rice and veggies and local fish cake and it only cost RM100+
Next day, home sweet home.
P/s. we are planning for another trip back to BKK - solely shopping and without children.... PLANNING....... - procrastinating, I hope Not.
