Tanjung Sepat (2)

Smart of E to paste some photos on our blog but expect either S or me to do a write up on our trip to Tanjung Sepat on Tues.!! Okay, I’ll start but if I miss out something, please add in your versions. There’s nothing wrong with blogging on the same topic, ok?

We were supposed to be at E’s at 9.30am. From there we were to meet up with another group in a second car and they were supposed to lead the way. Unfortunately we were late and the people in the other car were a bit irritated with us. Most of us in E’s car had not eaten but since we were only ‘followers’, we could only follow and not make a sound even though some of our stomachs were already growling. If we had our way, we would have stopped at Abu’s Kopitiam or somewhere for breakfast. E made S print out a list of places to eat in Tg. Sepat as recommended by somebody in the Allmalaysia.info website and one of the places mentioned was Abu.

The first stop was a Longan Farm where everybody it seems, bought a bunch of bananas. Come to think of it nobody bought longans? By then, the driver from the second car, who was also our guide, had cheered up considerably and she was happily handing out free bananas to fill our near empty stomachs. Thank God for bananas!

Our next stop was to a tapioca chips/crackers factory where everything was freshly cooked / baked or whatever you call it. There were all kinds of flavours and you get to taste everything for free. Obviously each of us bought something to take home.

Our guide then gave us a bit of good news. Next stop was to a coffee shop where the specialty is the “mui-choy” pau which is one of the places we were keen to visit because according to the website, the paus are delicious. None of us had ever tasted mui-choy paus before but I was a bit disappointed as were S & E because our fussy taste buds found the paus sort of ordinary, especially the kaya & tau sah ones. We can’t imagine why there was such a huge crowd waiting to eat the paus in the first place. Grrr … nasib baik the kopi-o was good so it was worth the trip.

From there we proceeded to Ocen Restaurant for our lunch. It was even more crowded than the pau shop!! When we got there, it was shortly after 1.00pm. Not only did we have to wait for a table but by then, the crabs and lala were already sold out.! From what we tasted of the food served at Ocen, S & I feels this place is over hyped because Port Klang offers tastier seafood. Maybe it’s cheaper here, I don’t know or maybe their crabs, which we didn’t get to try, is really good?? And I was so looking forward to scallops ….That up there is a picture of the scallop we didn't get to eat.

Finally the highlight of the day…a mushroom farm called Ganofarm. As E said, someone from the farm took us on a guided tour of the area. E was right, her hokkien was so deep that ¾ of the time I didn’t know what she was saying but I sportingly ooohh and aaahhh at her every sentence. Of course the best part was buying mushrooms & Lingzhi products at discounted prices because our guide is a regular who buys in bulk whenever she’s there.

After that, we decided we didn’t need our guide any more and drove off on our own and made a nostalgic stop at Morib. We’ve not been there for ages and stopped just long enough to buy 2 burgers for S’s kids. Then it was back to good ole Klang!! Doesn't this trip just reminds you of the times in school when we used to go for trips & excursions ??
